BÄR

STORE CONCEPT

BÄR – Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Munich, Berlin

heckhaus_specific_project_redline_headline-15We developed a new retail design for our customer BÄR, which we were able to present for the first time with the opening of the first shop in Hamburg. Rolling out the concept further, we also created spatial “fresh-ups” for shops in Munich and Düsseldorf. For over 30 years, the family business has held true to its guiding principle of creating a relaxed and natural feel when jogging, and has intentionally chosen premium locations in cities for this purpose. Their shoes fit to the shape of the wearer’s foot and provide support for the whole body. With this ethos in mind, we devised an idea for the updated design and developed a  spatial concept that both maintained and advanced the company’s corporate identity. Other projects are currently in the works, with Berlin also set to welcome a brand new BÄR branch before long.

Shoe manufacturer BÄR has opened a shop with the size of 70sqm in the middle of Hamburg and Heckhaus coordinated the retail design and its implementation. „Your life will run well“ is the principle of the BÄR brand – this principle is the basis for us, to develop the design further for the stores. But the expectations of BÄR’s customers are higher than this, quality and comfort should also be incorporated in the store design. For this reason Heckhaus created many different possibilities to sit and relax while the customers try on their desired model. The used materials and areas reflects this principle by: wood boarding at the cashiers desk as well as at the backside of the lounge; welcoming wood laminate for the floor; birch trunks as a separation for the lounge and highlights in green and yellow. All these elements gave the store a contemporary and cozy look, which was the aim for the BÄR family.

Dusseldorf wouldn’t be the same without it! Dusseldorf’s Königsallee, known to many as simply the “Kö”, is more than just a shopping street – it’s a business card, a masterpiece and an international trademark. That’s why the Bär family felt it was all the more important to update their shop in Königsallee to match the latest retail concept, which Heckhaus had already launched in Hamburg. Like in Hamburg, the Düsseldorf design is centred around warm materials and white lacquered wood, accented with yellow and green surfaces. We were also tasked with presenting 650 pairs of shoes across just 55 m 2 of shop floor, a challenge we overcame using a bespoke shopfitting system specially designed for Bär. With an array of integrated storage solutions on the back walls and furniture in the middle of the shop floor, Bär is able to offer its customers fast, effective customer service.

Located in the very centre of Munich, the “Residenz” is Germany’s largest inner-city palace. The Residenzstraße shopping street runs directly adjacent to it, and it was here in January 2018 at Residenzstraße 25 that we put our modernisation concept into place for the Bär shop. A large, inviting shop window featuring dynamically staged product pedestals has an enticing effect that beckons to passers-by outside, while a screen integrated into the window displays the company’s campaigns and leaves no doubt that despite its traditional roots Bär is well on its way to the digital future. Developed by Heckhaus, the modern back wall inlays have been adapted to match the Bär brand’s CI colours, sending flashes of colour throughout the shop floor. The store spans a total of 170 m 2 across two floors, neatly tied together by three six-metre long birch tree trunks. Long, uninterrupted light rails were designed for the building’s narrow rooms with the aim of guiding customers to the rearmost sales areas, while innovative spotlights in the ceiling ensure that the shop is always presented in the best possible light.

The brand-new Bär branch in Berlin is not only impressive because of its top location on the coveted Ku’damm – the new premises have been largely gutted and completely refurbished; a suspended ceiling at 3.70m gives the elongated room a noticeable spaciousness, which we set off in a light grey. We also planned the corresponding back walls over a large area in order to make optimum use of the walls and to accommodate 1200 pairs of shoes over the entire area. Another special feature is a large, extendable cabinet, which also serves as an additional storage area. Some new seating options and presentation islands with individually positionable metal cubes have also been created. The restrained, natural basic colours of the furniture enable our customer to present the goods in the best possible light.
