New Storedesign – RODEN- STOCK COMPETENCE STORES
Rodenstock GmbH from Munich – for almost 140 years innovation leader in the field of ophthalmic optics and manufacturer with excellent competence in both eyeglass lens technology and eyewear – commissioned the Munich design agency Heckhaus at the beginning of 2015 with the conception and development of an innovative shop system for the individual equipment of independent opticians worldwide.
The Rodenstock brand values, which derive from a long tradition of German engineering and craftsmanship and which continue to this day in the company’s sense for extraordinary design, top quality and impressive functionality, are brought to life in the new store concept in the spatial dimension without restricting the individual development of the traditional optician. Just as in a perfect pair of glasses, excellent design is combined with technical refinements – both adapted to the individual wishes and needs of the wearer – to create better vision and a perfect appearance, so the store concept offers the optician the perfect stage to live up to date, trend-safe and competent customer proximity.
Design concept takes up guiding principles of “Charming Engineering
Heckhaus is developing a highly modular design concept under the guiding principle of “Charming Engineering”, whose components can be flexibly adapted to a wide variety of new and old building architectures. The combination of glass and steel in precise workmanship on the one hand conveys an industrial touch and at the same time allows warmth and character to be felt through the material combination with wood. The modular concept allows the concept to be scaled from a starter kit via shop-in-shop areas to a complete shop design that takes all essential sales areas into account: Competence zones with innovative surveying technologies from Rodenstock, consulting services for individual customer care, varied possibilities for the optician’s comprehensive presentation of goods, shop window and exterior design of the store.
On behalf of Rodenstock and in close cooperation with Rodenstock Corporate Communications as well as in cooperation with the realisation partner ISARIA Corporate Design AG, Heckhaus developed the conceptual approach to a mature system which, thanks to smart planning, modern production technologies and mature warehouse and assembly logistics, allows individual equipment to be realised quickly and cost-effectively.
“The holistic concept “Shop 2.0 Rodenstock Competence Store” is a light, elegant and high-quality shop system that offers a multitude of modular and individual system options across all areas such as wall systems, consulting, surveying technology, reception and waiting areas. Beyond that three fundamental Design style directions – classical, modern and Heritage – contribute to the fact that from the concept Shop 2.0 a personal experience becomes , describes a enterprise speaker of the ISARIA Corporate Design AG the Presentation concept.
Already to be seen in Vienna and Munich: The new Rodenstock shop system
Together with Optik Krämer in Berndorf near Vienna, the first pilot project with a sales and consulting area of around 60 square metres was realised at the end of December 2015. At the end of January 2016, the shop system was presented to the international trade public at the OPTI trade fair in Munich and the Rodenstock Competence Store in the company headquarters in Munich was completed at the beginning of April.
The in-house Rodenstock store is primarily used for presentations and discussions with customers and dealers, and employees can also shop here, for example. The Competence Store has a total area of 115 square metres.
