New Interiordesign in a Gourmet Shop

MONTI – Munich

Monti, the well-known bistro in Munich’s trendy Schlachthof district, now has an entirely new gourmet section! The heart of the newly conceived space is a multifunctional central counter which serves as a packaging station, cashier’s counter and refrigerated showcase for the fresh delicacies. Accessible from all sides, the counter allows customers to stroll and browse throughout the entire shop. A customized shelving system was created to highlight the special extensive selection of wines and gourmet products. We designed the waxed blackened steel shelves to contrast with the flooring and storage boxes of oiled oak, thus creating a perfect mix of modernism and industrial charm. The styling for the walls features a spacious plane of blackboard paint, onto which a Munich-based artist added the illustrated typography. The lighting is another special aspect: it’s subdivided into three individually dimmable zones. Alongside decorative lamps for atmospheric lighting in the counter and tasting area, so-called »wallwashers« from Atelier Markgraf were installed to assure optimal product presentation. Additional spotlights further accentuate selected products inside the showcase. Another positive side effect: the new planning created more useable area for Monti, which now looks much more spacious.
